I live in a town where winter means lots of prunes available cheaply. It’s nearly spring and I still have kilos of the things in my fridge.

I have a great French recipe for a prune tart and I have found a recipe for ” Chocolate, Prune and Almond Slab “, but there is only so many of these that you want to eat each season.

Any other ideas – aside from stewing?

      Prune cake! yum yum

My old mum used to make the best in the world and it’s still my favourite cake. This is the nearest recipe to it I can find (without calling my sister), and she used to use marsala instead of sherry or Grand Marnier, with a marsala cream layer in the middle.

            Hi

The way my mum used to deal with prunes was a really difficult recipe.

            1. Take prunes, place in large jar.

            2. Take bottle of port wine, pour over prunes. Cover jar.

            3. Place in fridge for a few days/weeks.

            4. Eat with icecream, drink liquid. Enjoy.

Hope it is useful and not too hard to try.

            Regards

            John
