When I tried to help a friend with an internet connection problem today I found that his desktop icons scrambled all over the place and stopped in a different location than they started in whenever you get near a certain spot on the desktop with the cursor. They then move whenever you go near any of them for a while. Sometimes you can sneek up on one that’s on the edge and execute it but it’s not consistent. I’m pretty sure This is being caused by some sort of virus, but without a name, the antivirus sites aren’t much help. He’s not running an antivirus program on his system (I know, I know) and now can’t access the internet to use an online service. Anyone know which of the little nasties my friend has ???
    Thanks!!

      Here you go:

Depending on its internal counters the virus manifests itself: it gets access to Windows desktop and does not allow to access icons on the desktop by mouse. When mouse cursor is moved to an icon, the virus moves the icon out of the cursor. It looks like desktop icons try to “escape” mouse cursor. The similar effect was first introduced by Joke.Win.Stupid joke program, but there was a button ‘running away’ from mouse cursor, not an icon

Does that sound like the little blighter?
