      • #1144539

The stamp collector isn’t wearing gloves.
The stamp collector isn’t using tweezers.

      • #1144553

        Sorry Christopher… No.

The answer does not have to be deduced as there is a definite error on both the stamps I “posted” (Posted — haha).

        • #1144555

Well, in that case, they’re both missing the post mark, or cancelled stamp.

        • #1144560

          > there is a definite error on both the stamps

They are just images on glass, and I can’t stick them to a letter.

It looks like collector has 6 fingers on his left hand.

      • #1144588

        Spot on Mike! Correct! thumbup

BTW: Can anyone identify WHO the collecter is???

        • #1144593

          F.D. Roosevelt?

          • #1144606

            Thats it!

Correct on the name of the collecter
            and
            Correct on the anatomy bit!

            Cheers all. Well done!

PS: Here is one last one! Lets enlarge the tiny stamp and see if you can spot the wrong here. This one is fairly easy!

            • #1144627

It seems to me that the flag and the smoke are blowing in different directions

              Hah!

Wind blowing in the wrong direction; camels never seen. razz

Can’t they do anything wrong the right way out there in the other world? grin

We at least managed to print one in the wrong colour, destroy/throw away over time all but one, et voilà, world record (economic) value for a stamp! smile

              The American flag is wrong

        • #1144597

Why on earth would Polydactyly be “something wrong”? That seems a bit intolerant of difference.

          (and why can’t I

Stuart…being our admin, you should tell us why, not ask us… smile

And; apologies for the way I worded that. To be clearer: I meant what is wrong with the artwork in the stamp…not what is wrong with the hand. sorry

        • #1144605

You could argue, the bottom finger is the inside of the collector’s left shirt sleeve.

It’s a stretch, but I’ll argue it grin.

Wrong date for completion of railroad.

      • #1188697

Wrong date for completion of railroad.

According to the History of the Transcontinental Railroad website the completion date for the railroad was May 10 1869. The stamp is correct. It is showing the year of completion (1869) and the year the stamp was issued (1944)

FDR appears to have an extra finger on his left hand.

Would that be similar to this answer posted in January of 2009 ?

Shouldn’t new Loungers be allowed to have a go at old puzzles too, without sneaking a peek at the answers already given?

    • #1193954

I believe this too could be considered an error…….Roosevelt’s collar on the left side of the suit jacket should have a darkened outline to show that the collar is folded over on top. Rather than a 2 dimensional drawing of a “fake” collar.

      FDR died in 1945.

      • #1209069

        FDR died in 1945.

The 1847 – 1947 is referring to the Centennial Exhibition (exposition du centenaire) of Monaco’s not FDR’s lifespan (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945)
