• Where’s my Java Control Panel app?

I recently updated my Java installation to the latest version (Version 7 Update 9), and I notice that I no longer have Java showing in my Windows Control Panel. Is this a Java error, or does the latest version not have a control panel app?

I’m not sure why the update would wipe out the Java Control Panel. Have you tried downloading the update again either after first removing it or simply downloading and running it again to see if it was, in fact, an installation error ?? If you have not, I’d try this first.

If you have, then you might try using Windows Explorer to get to the Java installation folder, located here: C:Program FilesJavaj2re1.7.9bin. …
According to this Java site, once there,… Double-click the jpicpl32.exe file located there. It will launch the control panel for that version.

Thanks, Doc. I uninstalled Java, and downloaded the installation file again. Re-installed, and now I have the Java Control Panel. Thanks for the suggestion.

Glad it worked out for you Les. Sometimes the simple stuff works.
