In todays massive title the win 7 comments are mixed within the win 10 comments. The two IO’s are as different as day and night. It is confusing to us non geeks as to what belongs to what.  They should be treated separately, so we can get a grasp on things.

Firstly, I’d like to thank Woody for this site and secondly, I’d like to thank everyone who does contribute to posts about Windows 7 because I would be totally lost without their input but I’m definitely not a geek. I agree with BrianL that it would be really useful to us non-geeks if Windows 7 and 10 could be treated separately.

I can usually find the posts about Office 2010 but the main ones I need to find out about every month on Windows 7 are:
Security Only Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 x64
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64
      .NET Framework 3.5.1., 4.5.2., 4.6., 4.6.1., 4.6.2., on Windows 7 for x64

Does anyone know what the KB numbers for these are this month and are they okay to install yet.

Any help would be much appreciated.

      Thanks Janie

Check here for the Security-Only and IE updates, but there’s no NET framework stuff on there. I don’t think the NET framework stuff has a page here, but could be wrong.

I can usually find the posts about Office 2010 but the main ones I need to find out about every month on Windows 7 are:

There are separate Windows 7 Forums. The links are on the lower right side of the website in the “Woody veneer”

Security Only Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 x64

There is no “Security Only Quality Monthly Rollup.”

The “Security Monthly Quality ROLLUP” is the update that comes through Windows Update and consists of three components: security patches, non-security patches, and the cumulative update for IE11. It is cumulative.

The “Security Only Quality UPDATE” contains only security patches and must be downloaded and manually installed each month. It sis not cumulative. It can be accessed each month on this website in out Knowledge Base AKB2000003
The instructions are included in the article.

If you use the security-only patch, you also need to install the Cumulative Update for IE11, which can also be downloaded from AKB2000003.

        .NET Framework 3.5.1., 4.5.2., 4.6., 4.6.1., 4.6.2., on Windows 7 for x64

The patches for .NET are issued through Windows Update. There were none for the above listed versions in June.

Updates released prior to June are safe to install. June patches are still on hold (DEFCON 1). You can read about the problems with the patches on the Main Blog.

To all who answered:  I meant to add- it is hard to separate Win 7 info from Win 10 info in new topics and their posts to that topic. Techs will mix the two and we have to read all the posts’ to find out about win 7.  We probably will never go to win 10 as it is a mess. Us home users are really trying to keep our current Windows 7  working correctly. Thanks

This is a gross generalisation and you should speak for yourself, even if there may be other let’s say 100 users here who would claim the same.
This was said before about XP, Linux migration and so on.
Now we even have people here claiming that the Windows XP update mechanism was more reliable than the CBS mechanism implemented from Vista onward.

Otherwise, I agree with you that there should be a better separation between various groups of interest, but unfortunately as other people before me said here, this is not always possible.
