I still wonder WHY I keep getting updates for Office 2010 when I don’t have ANYTHING to do with on my machine? (None that I know of or can find.)  This month I am getting KB4011274 and KB4022137 from Windows Update. I have hidden them and others in the past and they keep showing up.

The only thing I can think of that MIGHT be connected is that I have MS streets & Trips 2010, MS Money 2004, and MS Works 7 installed. I like these as they are programs that WORK the way I want them to and they are EASY to use.

Maybe I just have to suck it up and keep hiding these (HOPEFULLY) unneeded and unwanted updates.

Thanks for letting me rant, and for all the help I have gotten here at Ask Woody.

The MS  pages for the two patches KB4011274 and KB4022137, mention updating file versions for ose.exe and mso.dll.x64 (mso.dll.x86) respectively, for certain vulnerabilities. If  these files are on your computer as part of one of the MS programs (I would suspect the MS streets & Trips 2010), then that would explain why you are offered the updates and why you need them. This would also explain why you probably need the others you have hidden as well.

      PKCano,

Thanks for the fast reply. I guess I just don’t understand the possible vulnerabilities, but I will probably reconsider hiding these and the others.

My reasoning behind hiding them was that these programs are never run while I am online, but I guess that doesn’t matter. My reasoning has been proven to be mistaken in the past, and I guess it is wrong again.
      Thanks, again, for the help.
