Macrium can backup any media folders that you have stored on your PC hard drive, but not the iPod device itself.

Does your iPod represent itself as a mass storage device, i.e., a disk drive with a drive letter when it is plugged into Windows?

If so, then maybe Macrium or another utility can recognize that as a normal disk drive, and it would become available for backup for at least the files stored in that volume.

I have never tried that, so I’m just thinking out loud. I had an iPod like 10-12 years ago, so I’m not sure it acted like a modern mass storage device when connected to my PC by USB like my current smartphone does. I do recall having to use Apple’s iTunes application to do anything with it though.

Yes it does, it has a drive letter and is available in windows explorer, but the music displays as numbered files.mp3…..there’s something on the iPod that adds the titles etc. but MR didn’t even see the iPod, todo works plus a couple others I’m trying, it’s so hard these days searching for anything on the internet, I remember in 2000 it was so easy, now the internet is full of rubbish or outdated inaccurate info about 50% I think , nothing ever gets corrected. And these auto answers that have been appearing are often incorrect or unrelated to the question.

I have 3 iPods, If only I could change the music from my tablet, I keep hoping for an updated iPod, but that won’t happen. I hate Spotify, quality abysmal, I’m old school and like having original stuff, even if it is digitised, everything is going streaming, we won’t actually own anything one day.I am just waiting for Internet 2 the next generation 😂

If you install iTunes on a Windows PC, it may be able to back up/restore the iPods using your PC. Be sure you get the appropriate version for your PC from Apple, NOT from the Microsoft Store.

If you can backup the iPods to your PC, perhaps they will be included in a PC backup (using Macrium or whatever backup program you choose).

Just found the perfect solution, easaus TODO backup free version, allows iPod backups with full incremental and differential backups and restore, perfect as I only add a few albums every few months…..was using copytrans, but it wouldn’t copy same tracks and left albums incomplete….think iTunes only does iOS devices, thanks for the help
