Win 7 upgrade issue: PCI Flash Media controller

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor tells me the “Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller” is “Not compatible” with Win7.

Can someone please tell me in plain English what this means. I know flash media has something to do with displaying motion pictures. I know “integrated” means this whatchamacallit is built into the motherboard. Beyond that, I’m lost.

I Googled for a driver download, and I was pleased to see lots of sites offering to help me solve the problem. I don’t know which sites I can trust. Any recommendations? I don’t want to download a new driver plus trouble.

The FlashMedia Controller is part of the PC used to read flash memory cards.

Have you checked the PC manufacturer site for a driver?

Yes, I did, Joe–sorry I didn’t mention that. The TI site seems to have been built for professionals–I was looking for link to “Downloads” or “Driver Support”—something in layman’s terms, y’know. If I manufactured computers or blood gas analyzers, I’d probably feel right at home. I could find nothing to suggest driver support for this product. That’s why I turned to Google, but I’ve read warnings about getting this kind of support from sources that I can’t verify. Am I making sense?

If it’s truly an integrated part of your motherboard, then you’ll probably ONLY find driver support at the web site of the motherboard manufacturer.

You should download the entire (latest) driver pack for that motherboard. It may be 50 – 60 megs, but that’s not unusual, so don’t balk at it.

I do this stuff all the time so don’t let it baffle you. Just grin and bear it!

I’m having a similar problem now, after installing Windows 7 Ultimate on my three year old PC.
Some USB things work OK and some don’t. I need updated USB support drivers, but as yet
I don’t have them. That’s a job for a rainy day.
