Hi All…Was on Verizon website…Clicked on hyperlink to brought up a “second” window (Popup)….But, I couldn’t enlarge that 2nd window ….

I then noticed a message on the I / E Info Bar said “This site want to add MSXML 3.0 SPO…etc”…I thought it had something to do with why I couldn’t enlarge that 2nd window…I clicked ok and got the verifying popup saying it was from M/S…So I proceeded…

It took a nanno-second to do what it did……

I went back and clicked that same link but this time instead of seeing “part” of the info as before, this time I / E said it could not display because of Windows Firewall Query User…..I still could not ‘enlarge’ that window to be able to read everthing….

    Help—-What do I do to correct this……???……..Thanx in advance…….

Can you post a link to the page and explain the steps needed to re-create the problem. If you need an account, it’s still possible that some VERIZON subscribers will happen by…

Hi jscher…and ……DocWatson…..I repeated everything yesterday and got the same results—I/E saying it couldn’t display due to Windows Firewall Query User …..

To answer DocWatson ——-I don’t keep computer on 24/7 so —have rebooted multiple times…..I Googled ‘Windows Firewall Query User’ too and after researching a # of the links, I figured it was best if I asked for help….

I went back through everything again just now— and now I’m NOT getting the message from I/E about the Firewall……
I have no idea what’s happened in the last 24 hours….I’ve made no changes at all—no updates (other than AVG auto daily update), no program changes etc etc etc…… I guess for now, I’ll reserve my question about why I/E was not displaying sites……Hopefully, whatever the cause was with Verizon and not my computer….

But —I am back to the original problem –The link that presents a 2nd screen which normally you can “grab” with the mouse to enlarge in order to read all the info (pointer arrow turns into a double arrow etc)……The pointer arrow doesn’t change to the double arrow; therefore, I can’t enlarge that screen in order to read all the info…..

Here are the steps I’ve been using—–
        1–Logged into Verizon on——-https://netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/main/myaccount
2–Clicked link for “Current Plan….You may be eligible for an upgrade. Please click here” which links to:
3–netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/main/myaccount# as a 2nd screen on top of the my account screen…That 2nd screen normally you can “grab” with the mouse to enlarge……
4—That 2nd screen shows the link address ForHomeDSLRenew/DSL/co_authvalidate.asp?login_type=edsl

Maybe this is a Verizon problem too…..I don’t recall having the problem on any other website….But I’m not sure I’ve had 2nd screens from links on others I’ve visited in the last couple of days…..

Do you have any suggestions.??….Thank you both for your help

Unfortunately, I am unable to check out the links you provided because I’m not a Verizon subscriber. Have you contacted Verizon about this issue. It is, after all, their window and you don’t believe you are having the same problem with other windows on other sites.

You also might want to do a search of your C: dirve for MSXML 3.0 and see if you can determine which version you have installed.

If the second window is genuinely a window, and not an overlay drawn on the page using a script, you usually can display it in a normal, resizeable window by pressing Ctrl+N. This should display a new window with the same page loaded. However, this new window might not be able to interact with the original window correctly, so it’s really only for viewing.

            Hi DocWatson and jscher2000
Search Results of the C Drive for MSXML 3.0 produce absolutely nothing (I used “Advanced” search to show all files; hidden, system etc)—-The only result was the document I created where I’m documenting this situation….

The only reference to MSXML 3.0 is in I/E Addons……It shows—–msxml3.dll…..It’s recorded in both the “Currently Loaded” section as well as the “That have been used by” section….I don’t see any indication of the version…..

The 2nd window must be an ‘overlay’ since using the keyboard Ctrl+N does indeed produce a full screen size version……And it does allow me to ‘interact’…..

At this point…..one of the problems has mysteriously disappeared; the other can be dealt with by using the Ctrl+N shortcut…..

I will contact Verizon to alert them to the ‘overlay’ window problem…….

Thank you both very much for all your guidance….I appreciate it……

Glad you got things sorted out and are able to move forward.

Thanks for posting back with your information. It may be helpful to other Loungers in the future. smile

Sounds like the popup was about the Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 SP updates but it’s hard to be sure from your description of the popup. Did you reboot the computer before you went back to the site to re-try the link ??

Your problem seem to be related to Vista. I’m not a Vista user but perhaps you can find an answer that suits your particular situation on one of the forums that this Google search turned up. HTH smile
