GuestNovember 23, 2016 at 9:09 am #21480In Microsoft’s defense, this is a mixed PC and Mac network environment. These are notorious for having various connectivity issues, and MS can’t be expected to test for every mixed network environment when issuing security patches for Windows PCs. Still, the issue needs to be addressed, and users have now been given fair warnings.

GuestNovember 23, 2016 at 2:10 pm #21482I’m not particularly fond of the thinking that Microsoft needs to test for things that they could get right just by doing good, solid engineering.
There’s too much “throw the code at the wall and see what sticks” happening nowadays. Such activity will NEVER lead to a rigorous implementation. Rigor is what’s expected. Do you want an operating system that works “most of the time”?
We’ve gotten to a a “throw some updates out there and see what feedback we get” state now. That, coupled with a rapid pace of updates, is simply incompatible with trying to RELY on the operating system for things.
