Knock on wood.  It seems like a bit more planning went into this update, so maybe this one won’t have the issues previous ones did.

Just rebuilt an older Lenovo desktop with 10 Home. Would have been foolish to install 1506 and then have it update so we installed Creators Update. No issues noticed so far with minor tweaking and optimization.

The only significant functional change of note in Creators Update lies in the Windows Display Driver Model supported which advances to version 2.2. As reported by Wikipedia succinctly:

WDDM 2.2

Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) includes WDDM 2.2, which is tailored for virtual, augmented and mixed reality with stereoscopic rendering for the Windows Holographic platform, and DXGI 1.6.

I find Explorer doesn’t update its display 100% reliably in this version, whereas I didn’t find that to be true in the prior versions. That being said, so far it’s the closest version to any I’ve seen yet to being worthy of actually putting on hardware.

If Win10S is any indication, it looks like IE is going to be absorbed into the OS and its GUI disappear. That gives you a couple of years to “browse” around and find another that fits your liking.

Post by Sue O.  My rollout to Creator was surprisingly bad. The install hung, screen turned black, requiring a forced shutdown which resulted in a failed upgrade and return to 1607. Even attempts at clean installs failed. After 3 weeks of troubleshooting, I read a forum report of an individual who had similar problems due to a network card. Once my anatel wireless card was removed, the upgrade proceeded flawlessly.

Of course, since M$ are not rolling out the Creators Update to Win 10 users who have incompatible hardware, which can be detected by M$ through their forced Telemetry & Data Collection. Or is it NSA spyware ? …….

I haven’t installed it, but am just wondering if the snooping patch KB3150513 is used by MS to check one’s machine for compatibility with Creators…

KB2952664 is the “snooping” patch in Win7/8.1
KB3150513 is the compatibility database that is updated periodically (think definitions in an anti-virus program).
In Win10, the “snooping” is built in, but it also gets the compatibility definitions update.

Ah OK, thanks for the clarification. I see that Woody has just posted about it being updated yet again, so I won’t be in any great hurry to install it!
