Well I wanted to try and use […] Windows 10 again only to find that Microsoft, in it’s infinite stupidity, has now made it unusable at high resolutions (1920 x1200 on a 24″, 16×10, HP LP2475w here). [They] have removed any and all ways to increase the screen font size or type (normal, bold, etc) in 1703 Creators Update. The fresh install font size is so small that a 1 year old Raptor would hard pressed to use 1703 Creators more than a few minutes without severe eye strain let alone a typical human being. You now have to find and use 3rd party tools to get a readable screen font size in 1703 Creators and that is just plain STUPID. I can see OSHA and lawyers having a field day due to eye strain issues with companies that try to push 1703 Creators out to their personnel.

ManagerSeptember 9, 2017 at 6:05 am #132807I am using 1703 Build 15073.540 on a 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display, Parallels VM, and there is still an adjustment to make fonts, etc up to 500% (not recommended) larger. Resolution 2880 x 1800 using custom scaling setting turned on.
Also Insider Preview Build 16281.1000 on a MacMini with 27″ Thunderbolt Display, Parallels VM, same settings for custom scaling 100%-500%. Resolution 2560 x 1440.

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 9, 2017 at 1:40 pm #132832I’m using 1703 on my production machine, with a Dell 1920 x 1200 monitor. No problems. Wonder what could be happening?
Google it (link below) cause the internet is lit up about it. The font size settings that were present in previous W10 versions have been removed from 1703 Creators. Scaling, which has always been a positively horrible way to increase size, doesn’t work correctly either. Seems because changing the font size didn’t do anything in the garbage Modern Apps, and the inferior start menu that MS shoveled into W10 (basically all the garbage thrown into Windows after W7) MS decided to literally break everything font sizing wise for consistency.
If you still have the settings after a 1703 update DON’T CLEAN REINSTALL cause you will not have them after.!!! I have read that any resized fonts present before the update to 1703 will be lost, and the size reset to default tiny (8pt – regular – Segoe UI), upon update completion but that may be incorrect or not consistantly applied in all updated machines.
I stumbled upon an MS Technet post (trying to find the URL link needle in my history haystack) from a half blind gentleman asking for help restoring his lost font sizing after the 1703 update. MS’s response was for him to roll back to the Anniversary Update to get the settings back – – – brilliant and very temporary in the real world of bi-annual Alpha releases of (you can’t even honestly call them Beta anymore) of “Windows as a Dis-Service” 10.

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 9, 2017 at 8:25 pm #132861GAD. I see reference to .reg files. Have you tried that approach?
No need for Reg files really. There are several utilities that will change the font size, style and the font used. Winaero Tweaker and Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4.3 will do it but the settings are scattered in them. The best tool for doing it, that I have found, is the “Advanced System Font Changer” from WinTools. It’s a sweet, simple to use utility that gets the job done and is available here – https://www.wintools.info/index.php/download
The bad part about the setting being removed from 1703 Creators proper is many large Business / Enterprise corporations frown on or outright ban the use 3rd party utilities, right or wrong, for security reasons. That leaves the poor employees high and dry with strained eyes because of MS’s stupidity and ever increasing anti-user attitude.
