I have a folder set up on my D: drive for family documents which is shared so that Mrs N can access it from her computer. I set it up about 6 months ago and it has worked fine until yesterday. Can anyone help me to get it working again?

    Details are below:

Both computers connected to BT Homehub 4 mine through ethernet, Mrs N’s wirelessly (no problems in accessing router and internet).
Both computers running Windows 10 64 bit (mine is now on AU which installed itself this morning although problem occurred before that, the other has Win 10 AU downloaded and ready to install).
I have checked Firewalls on both and both have Homegroup enabled for Private users.
Both computers are members of the Homegroup and Homegroup is displaying the same password on each.
I am pretty sure the Homegroup is set up properly as the printer on my PC is shared and she can print to it from her computer.
The Shared Documents folder on my PC has Read/Write permissions set for Homegroup.

As far as I am aware no settings/passwords etc have been changed on either computer that should affect this.

When she clicks on the link to the Shared Folder from her computer it displays “(Empty)” alongside its name in File Explorer and then “The folder is unavailable” below that.

Can anyone give me a steer on how to fix this.

    TIA

      Hi All,

I eventually managed to fix this. Summary of solution below (in case it happens to anybody else).

Having done it on both machines it seemed to get rid of the Homegroup on both computers until I rebooted when it reappeared on both. However as soon as I tried to join it on Mrs N’s it finally realised none was there, created a new one which I have now joined on my computer. I have reshared the required folders and all is well with the world again, till the next time…..

Link just goes to the forum directory, not the post with the answer.
