Is there a way to set updates for Windows 10 to occur only on demand? I’m currently on Build 1803, and the only apparent option is to set my “active hours” so that the PC does not restart during those hours.

I use VMWare Workstation and often have 2 VMs open, in addition to the host PC. If 2 VMs begin checking for update or download updates at the same time, my processor struggles and the PC shuts down. I have a Dell 9100, 6 core/12 thread processor with 24 Gb RAM; my Internet download speed is 973 Mb. I have never had trouble until the Creator update of Windows 10. I understand that Dell PCs, in particular this model, have reported issues with the processor overheating. For me, that occurs only when multiple VMs (i.e. Wind 10 VMs) are checking for/installing downloads at the same time.

I must use VMWare, so the solution seems to be to keep Windows from updating until I want it to.

    Thanks.
