    W10 Home v1803, forced into this finally without anything to choose… Like most people will be I recon.

    This leaves a question: Am I still the OWNER of my data after this ASSIMILATION ? Can Microsoft be trusted, or has it become one big data scam?

      Can we assume that W10 v1803 is being forced from ALL previous versions and not just v1709?

      i.e. W10 17.03 to 17.09 then 18.03?

      I wonder if MS has killed the W7/W8 product key upgrade in 18.03?

      Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

      Yes, if the data is yours, you remain owner. Backup your system. Store your data to external disk. Just because the data is yours doesn’t mean it can’t be deleted, overwritten, or corrupted.

      No, Microsoft updates cannot be trusted: caveat emptor. If you choose to trust, verify that your data and system are intact.

      On permanent hiatus {with backup and coffee}

      When you upgrade Windows, Microsoft will not intentionally remove or destroy your data. That said mistakes happen. You should be responsible enough to backup your data regularly and especially when you undertake a major update. A new Windows version definitely qualifies as a major update.
