I’m running Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Build 22631.3880. For the past few weeks I’ve been experiencing erratic behaviour when using the mouse. It happens in all Apps – for example in Firefox I have to try multiple times to get a drop down menu to stay open, in Outlook if i select a message in the Inbox to drag it to another folder it opens the message, trying to select text in a Word document can take multiple tries and sometimes jumbles the text I’m trying to select – the list goes on.

I was using a Logitec M310 wireless mouse so I switched to an older basic Dell USB attached mouse. No change. I’ve tried multiple USB slots with both devices and that doesn’t help either.

I’ve tried multiple settings of the double-click speed again no change.

The driver is the same old driver from 2006

Device Manager shows 2 HID compliant mouse entries, one for the USB attached mouse and one showing Location on Programmable Support for Mouse. Both use the same driver and Device Status is “Working properly”

Is anyone else seeing these issues? Any suggestions on how to fix?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

Have you tried adjusting the mouse settings such as pointer speed, lines to scroll, etc.?

Yes, I’ve played around with all the settings that I can see. Nothing seems to make a difference.

Do you let Windows Update contaminate your system with drivers ? If so, disable drivers, firmware updates.

You should check with Logitec M310 for a Windows 11 compatible driver.

I’m having the same issue. Can’t find a good solution online.

I’ve also experienced this erratic mouse behaviour in Windows 11 on my main PC, regardless of which kind of mouse. Since I’ve dropped down to Windows 10, no issues.

Strange mouse behaviour has been known about in Windows 11 since RTM. It’s a pretty random bug that doesn’t seem to happen to a significant enough portion of users for Microsoft to care.
