…install. Re-installed with no issue; just strange that it got un-installed. Don’t know if any other of my programs got un-installed or not. Have noticed things appear to run faster which is a pleasant surprise. 🙂

AskWoody LoungerDecember 4, 2024 at 9:07 am #2722401Whenever you upgrade Windows 10/11…
Windows 10 21H2 ⇒ 22H2
Windows 10 ⇒ Windows 11
Windows 11 23H2 ⇒ 24H2
The upgrade process replaces older versions of Microsoft games (like Windows 7 games) with the new versions included with that particular version of Windows.
It also does this if you do an in-place repair (i.e. upgrade to the same version of Windows)… BTDT several times!
At least Microsoft hasn’t yet decided to made it impossible to “reinstall” the older versions!

AskWoody PlusDecember 4, 2024 at 12:46 pm #2722467When I recently (few months ago) upgraded from Win10 to Win11, I did have to install Win7 games for Win11 (had Win7 games for Win10) and didn’t think much of it since I thought there had to be a reason for the new program. Didn’t know that when a service pack (I know; not called that any longer; lol) happens, my games would get un-installed. Thanks for the info. Re-installing the Win7 games for Win11 wasn’t rally that big a deal; just was un-expected. 🙂

AskWoody PlusDecember 5, 2024 at 2:49 pm #2722803Unexpected is the calling card of Win 10 and Win 11 and IMO it is a big deal. LOL rarely applies to these two, COL (Crying out loud) is much more applicable. I also remember Service Packs from Win XP on and how they would install all the bad updates that Woody warned us about and I was so careful to avoid installing.
I was lucky to start out on Win XP with Service Pack 2 and on Win 7 with SP 1 on the Installation DVDs.

you mean something like this from Majorgeeks.com?
yeah, it is expected behavior (aka. “by design”) for the Win7 games to be removed after either upgrading to Win10 or Win11 or doing an in-place upgrade repair install of either Win10 or Win11

GuestFebruary 15, 2025 at 5:44 pm #2748724When the Windows 7 games disappeared recently, I tried to reinstall them, and though they appear in my downloads, when I try to pull them up, the screen goes to winearo. So I downloaded them from the winearo page, but when I tried to pull up the games, I was looped back to winearo. Any suggestions?
