As we all know, Windows 8.1 was also hit by the update scan slowdown.  I haven’t the instructions on how to do so any more (I did my own computer months ago), but I figured I’d post this here so that the instructions could get posted for others to use.

Wouldn’t the technet WU Reset script tool fix slow scans? here

Try this first before you reset WU.

Check for these three updates under “installed updates”: KB3021910, 3173424, and 3172614.
Any of those you don’t have – download from the MS Catalog and manually install.
Those were the ones equivalent to the ones that fixed Win7.
