    Win 7 Pro 32bit SP1 new installation.

When I open up Windows Explorer the file list is only about 60 mm wide. The Preview pane occupies the rest of the right hand panel. On my screen that is about 450 mm. So I drag it to about half way across where it is good for me. I go into Tools > Folder Options > View and Apply to all folders. This works and all the other folders have the right size preview pane. When I close Explorer and re-open it, the Preview Pane is occupying most of the screen again for all folders including the one I adjusted. I can turn off the Preview pane but I would rather have it on.

After a bit of research I got ShellFolderFix and then resized the Preview pane but it still does not remember the size.

    Thanks for any assistance.

Try running Windows Explorer as administrator and making the changes. Go to the Start Orb. Type “explorer” (without the quotation marks), right click “Windows Explorer”, select “Run As Administrator”.

Joe, that was a good idea and but it didn’t help. Thanks for the reply.

I know this thread is almost half a year old, but I’m resurrecting it. I’m having the same problem, but haven’t found it discussed or answered anywhere else on the net.

neither have I and I still have the problem. I get round it by turning preview on when I need it and off again when it annoys me.
