I did a clean install of Win 10 (64 bit) on a Dell laptop, from a flash drive I created. The laptop had a brand new blank hard drive.

I later took a look in the Documents folder and I see there is a 2.7 GB file in there called Windows.iso.

When I double click on windows.iso, it mounts it as drive F: ESD-ISO. The files in there look like Windows setup files (there are folders called boot, efi, sources, support) and when I double click on the setup.exe, it says “Use the other installation disk that says 64 bit.”

Can anyone give me any insight into what this file is there for?

    Thanks

The files in there look like Windows setup files

That’s what they are. Evidently that is the 32 bit version.

So why would the installation have put them in the Documents folder?

        Thanks

I can’t answer that one Vincenzo but that’s what those files are.

      It’s a freebie. Take it.

Apparently; if you change the language, it reverts to 32-bit: Win10 error “Use the other installation disc that says 64-bit.

      OK thanks. I’ve deleted it.
