Just wanted to give you an update on how I am going with this prob..I have uninstalled messenger and re downloaded it and installed it and it seems to connect after that but..as soon as I restart the computer it goes back to its previous error of 84cc0020..any other suggestions of why this might be happening..?

ThanksIf you followed the instructions in the prior link you will have deleted your local copy of Contacts. Then when WLM starts it will download the Contacts automatically. It could be you have a corrupted Contact that only shows itself on a re-boot.

You could experiment by exporting your contact from WLM, then delete a few , re-boot & see what happens. That will be very tedious but it may work. Or you could contact Microsoft starting at E-mail Support.
