windows patch not installing, need details to bypass the fail, using bitlocker

i have read many “solutions”, to fiix faiiled patches, but need specific answer, since i am using bitlocker, and don’t want to screw up the machine

 

QUESTION
your windows update issue column, latest newsletter.

we have two brand new dell machines, 16 gig memory, etc, etc.
MINE updated ok, but my sisters freezes on one of the recent updates

we are considering doing the rESET WINDOWS – keep files and apps.
we even did this on an OLDER machine, just to test it out.

BUT, with the LATEST download, it only installed the Windows 21H1 version, but did NOT include the KB5005565 update, which is the update that is causing her system a problem.
is it of any use to DO hte RESET WINDOWS on that machine, then retry the KB5005565 update, or wait for a later cumulative MEDIA iNSTLLER?
This is frustrating.

ALSO, if we run RESET WINDOWS, is it OK to run FROM DESKTOP, or is it better to create boot USB stick (It ran ok on older machine, from straight download)

ALSO, how does bitlocker enter into this, if we run from desktop, will windows take care of storing key as it reboots? OR, do we have to UNENCRYPT first, then turn OFF bitlocker

Personally I prefer in place repair over the top but that’s just me.  You can run downloaded to the machine or via a flash drive. I would also disable bitlocker just to be on the safe side.
