I apologize if this has been asked before but as many of you know, back in 2014 when support for Windows XP ended, word got around that you could still install security updates that were made for a similar operating system, Windows Embedded POSReady 2009. The OS was based of Windows XP so the security updates installed fine on XP as well from my experience.
So I thought, when support for Windows 7 ends in 2020, can we do the same? There is a supported OS called Windows Embedded POSReady 7 that is, guess what? It is based of Windows 7! So in theory, we could still at our own risk continue to install security updates until October 2021 for our Windows 7 machines. Now every month’s updates would have to be tested of course but that is something we could maybe work on together on this forum?
What do you think about this? Could this be possible?
