I am having an issue that has gotten me at wits end! Here is my setup. 2 computers one Dell Inspiron 3847 and the other one I built with an Itel Processor and ATI video card. The Dell is running and onboard Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600. I am using these 2 computers with a KVM switch. I upgraded both computers 2 Windows 10 and both have ran flawlessly until about a week ago. I suspect there might have been a Win 10 upgrade that has created to problem but not sure.

The problem is my video resolution event which happens periodically no matter what program I seem to be in. I will get a brief blanking of the screen, with the event sound which happens in pairs and sometimes, I am left with a desktop which is off center with black to one side or the other. I have to hit the Auto Config on my Acer monitor to get my desktop centered and full screen.

I suspected that it might be a video drive on both machines and updated them to the latest to no avail. I even rolled them back to an earlier version and still the same issue. I have tweaked every setting on my primary computer using the Intel Graphics console and still the same issue. I am totally stumped even after reading about similar issues on various user group postings.
Can anyone give me some help on this? I have even considered replacing the monitor but hate to do that if it is a Windows 10 problem.

Seems like a driver crash. Have you checked your event logs and/or reliability history?

Do you get the same problem with just one machine plugged into the monitor and have you checked the cables ?

It would be a hell of a coincidence for both machines video cards to be playing up.

I ended up getting a much wanted larger monitor and hooked it up via the KMS switch and replaced the video cable with the new one that came with the monitor and all is well. I am assuming it was the cable and at this point don’t mind having gotten the new monitor. Great price and larger display.
