Hello,
I want to use Windows Search on a Windows Web Server 2008 (a web application want to use it).
But I can’t find the files services server role.
Is it possible to install it? Or what can I do to use the Windows Search on it?
Regards
Tilo

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

What steps are you currently using?
1) Start Server Manager
2) Click on Roles in the left navigation pane
3) Select Add Role in the Roles Summary pane to the right
4) Select the File Services role and click Next
5) Select the Windows Search role service
If you can’t get it stated from there, try the following download(s) from Technet:
Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 (x86)
Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 (x64)

Thank you for your answer.
Yes I want to follow these steps. But its not possible because in Windows Web Server 2008 R2 (not Windows Server 2008 R2) there are only two roles to add (DNS-Server and IIS).
I have tryed it already to install it directly (your links) but it shows an error on installation “…not for this operating system”.
Maybe its not possible to use Windows Search with Windows Web Server 2008 R2.
