      Thanks Woody,worked on my standard win10 home version. My laptop is running slooow and was wondering if a update may have caused it so checked in with you and saw this. Perfect.

      I think I’ll just stay with the “metered connection” gimmick until you have more research time. Meanwhile I hope the MS-DEFCON ratings are applicable for Windows 10 too.

      Woody:

      Gave it a try on a friend’s computer. I am half way there…. when I finally discovered that the very small round object in the upper right corner of the Store home page was the friend, I got to Settings and the update option. It was grayed out and a statement beside it said that I had to contact my system administrator to change this item.

      HE IS the system administrator, or at least he thinks so, and elsewhere within Win 10 the operating system thinks so as well.

      I will try some other tricks.

      @Ax –

      So it would seem that it DOESN’T work if you’re attached to an update server.

      Verrrrrrry interesting.

      @Jim

      Yep. I’m going to have to describe what to do for Win 7, 8, and 10 — but that’s OK. Keeps me on my toes. 😉
