I used to type in Windows Update in the bottom tool bar of my laptop screen, but when I did that this morning so that I could follow Susan’s advice and update, it’s not there! I’m taken to a general settings window. It does have Windows Update Settings, history, etc. but it doesn’t take me to the window where I can resume my updating. I tried the built-in troubleshooting, but it didn’t find any issues. At one point this morning I could see the update history and uninstalled KB5009543 as it was installed on 2/13/22 (somehow it snuck through my pause status). After restart the Windows Update window/tools still not available.
Since the last time I accessed WU, I did follow some suggestions about tweaking Start menu and apps provided by Lance Whitney even though it was for Win11 it offered some assistance for Win10 (or so I thought). I didn’t change much but could that have caused a problem?
Also, I use WUMgr which didn’t show any of the updates that Susan lists to install, only drivers!
Would a hard restart help or make things worse?
UPDATED:
what is the file name that seems missing?
I do have a Macrium back-up from the end of January. Would using that fix the problem?
Does Win10 Home have a way like Win7 to restore to an earlier time? Would this help? UPDATED: found where I might have been able to use this but no restore points are listed!
Should I do a manually reinstall KB5009543 as well as the Feb updates in the meantime?
Thanks for any assistance!
