Windows update *not* ignoring hidden updates

I have hidden a whole bunch of driver updates this month. I haven’t applied the cumulative July Windows update yet, but I have applied the .NET updates, and of course Windows Defender updates.

These driver updates are shown as hidden by Windows Update Manager, Windows Update Mini-Tool and wushowhide. Windows update showed them as pending download yesterday, and after it did its behind the scenes update check this morning, they are still showing as pending download. (So is the monthly cumultive update, but that is expected.)

Fortunately, all these driver updates are held back by the same policy settings that are holding back the monthly cumulative update.

Any ideas why Windows Update is *not* ignoring hidden updates?

Nope.

I’ve not changed any policy settings (Pro) for weeks, and this annoying behaviour has started by itself in the last couple of days.

Previously, driver updates which I’d hidden didn’t show up in Windows Update.

In fact, one I’d previously hidden still doesn’t (that’s one where Windows Update seems to think an ancient AMD video driver should replace my current one – something I regard as almost “normal” for Windows Update and drivers!)

I’m thinking I should try one of two things (or both): 1) un-hide using wushowhide, reboot, then re-hide wushowhide. If that doesn’t work, 2) run a Windows Update repair and/or cleanup.

These are the drivers. Note that Windows Update doesn’t seem to think that the two “extension” ones are drivers (don’t have to go to “view optonal updates2 and “driver updates” to see them.)

Why are you using 3 different windows update tools?
…possibility of one is conflicting with others within registry?!

Well, it appears that simply rebooting Windows overnight has resolved this problem. Windows did its usual daily check for updates this morning, and the hidden updates are … hidden.
