I work remotely for a company that uses Windows XP since programs do not run on newer system. The company pays MS for support so it is patch to October 2018 patch for Windows Xp. My current problem is that after install the October 2018 patch. My password was expiring and need to change it. Over the last 5 years that I had this Windows Xp laptop, I never had problem with changing password over VPN until now. I changed it over the VPN connection but it seems the local password remembered is the old password. The domain password was changed. Afer VPN connection, it asked for new password. I lock computer and use new password and it does not work. I need to use old password. I called the help support but they could not figure it out and told me to come into the office. This means a 3 hours drive to the local office, 2 min to connect to wired connection, and than 3 hours drive back.
I already tried to clear credentials, changing password again (but does not work with new or old password), removing temporary files, using command line to force policy update, ….
Is there an option that would fix this without having to drive to local office for a 2 min connection to wired connection?
