I’m running a Win 10 Machine with MS Wireless Keyboard and Mouse.  At spurious moments as I type, the keyboard seems to get stuck on the last letter and keeps going until I do something like hit the Backspace key.

I’ve seen possible solutions in other venues that recommend change keyboard sensitivity.  When I go into settings, I can’t find this options.

Look for “sticky keys” and turn it off.

Also, there should be something like repeat delay and repeat rate in the Control Panel keyboard settings.

In addition, look for a driver update for your model keyboard.

No matter what the problem is with a wireless device, I always check the batteries. Wireless devices seem to do some weird things when the batteries are low.

Thanks for this. I think this is always the best too. Just lost 20 minutes looking for another solution online before I saw your note and remembered this is usually the solution.

      1. )Look for “sticky keys” and turn it off.

        – Look where for “sticky keys”

        2) Also, there should be something like repeat delay and repeat rate in the Control Panel keyboard settings.

        – As mentioned above I can not find any keyboard settings.  When I go to Settings, Devices, Mouse Keyboard and Pen I find by clicking on that the only option I have it to Uninstall.  Right Clicking does nothing.  I am at a loss as to where I can find these optional settings.  Where can I find them?

        3) In addition, look for a driver update for your model keyboard.

I will look to google for help with this.

Try entering “Typing” in the desktop search window instead of “Keyboard”

Is this a new issue with a keyboard you have been using for a while?

I can access “Settings” in Windows 10.  Not sure how to get to “Control Panel” in this OS.

Try typing “Control Panel” in the search box.

      It’s a keyboard I’ve used for a good while.  A new computer.

I changed the batteries.  No Joy.

Typing CONTROL PANEL in search box worked.  Set “Repeat Delay” to greatest value.  Will see if this works.

This was happening consistently with one user in our office with a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. I could consistently recreate the issue. If the mouse was not moved for 10-15 seconds, there would be a half second delay after moving it. The keyboard was even worse – if no typing for 10-15 seconds, when letters were typed (for instance “this”), it would wait half a second and then capture “t” “h” and then the “i” would keep repeating until another key was pressed.

I finally found a setting called “USB selective suspend setting” under Power & Sleep that fixed the issue once disabled.

Here are the steps on Windows 10:

      – In the start menu, search for “edit power plan”
      – Click “Change advanced power settings”
      – Expand “USB Settings” and “USB selective suspend setting”
      – Change “Setting:” to disabled

The keyboard and mouse immediately started working properly again.

      Keyboard Settings:
      Control Panel -> Keyboard

This is the trick that worked for me! I work in an office where I can’t change a lot of settings or mess with much, but I was able to change these settings. I dropped my Repeat Delay to LONG, and my Repeat Rate to 25% (it’s closer to SLOW than FAST… if the dots were numbered 25%, 50%, etc, I’d be around 25%… this will make sense when you’re looking at the Keyboard Properties).

Now my wireless keyboard doesn’t freeze or repeat, and my mouse doesn’t lag. The only downside is that if I need to repeat a keystroke, it does take a smidge of time, but since I don’t need that very often (if at all), I can handle THAT inconvenience!

      Happy Typing, everyone!!
