I have an old WinBook XL formerly running Win98SE. I successfully installed XP. The Zoom wireless card 4412 sees my home wireless network, will connect at the computer store’s public wireless network, but fails to connect to my security network at home. I’ve uninstalled and installed it several times. Any suggestions?

What security are you using at home? If it’s WPA then you need to apply SP2 to XP to get it to work.
Test it by turning off the security on the router for a short while.

      cheers, Paul

Thanks very much Paul. I am grateful.

Am using WPA here. Sadly there is not enough room to upload SP2. I am just trying to get this old machine to work . . . can the necessary component from SP2 be downloaded alone, and how do I do that?

I am certainly grateful for your kindness. P

      Is there something to enable?

Did you try Pauls suggestion to see if your Winbook will connect when authentication is turned off on the router?

Yes, I did and it worked fine, albeit very slow. I can live with that, no problem.

Did you try installing the launch pad software and then the wifi? Also, sometimes the order of installation makes a difference.
