I manually recorded two programmes (in effect one recording) in a row on the same channel (SBS1) on my Windows 8.1 PC and an E700 card from ComproUSA. I would like to burn this file to a DVD but when I started to do this I discovered that my recording was broken down into 8 separate .wtv files of various sizes. This of course makes it too hard to do, what am I doing wrong? I recorded a three hour film a month ago and it contains just one .wtv file.
I would rather use the software that came with the card but it is not compatible with Windows 8.1, I have tried compatibility mode with no success. If I could find a card with 8.1 software compatibility I would buy it.

    Thank you

    Peter

I have the impression that you used this “Compro VideoMate E700” card with another operating system, and it worked. If that is correct what operating system did it work with?

The E700 card is certified for Windows Vista and Windows 7. Is one of those the Windows operating system that it worked with? Can you install one of those operating systems as a virtual machine? Did your computer come with Windows 8.1, or did you “Upgrade” it from Windows 8.0?

How are you initiating the recording, by right clicking in a programme guide and setting the record? Is there any interuption in the signal or WMC service at the time of recording? Various sizes seems odd, if were breaking on purpose it seems all but the last one would likely be of equal length. The destination drive is NTFS or exFAT format?

I have only used this card on my current PC which was delivered with Win 8 and I upgraded it to 8.1. Worked perfectly until the last recording. I initiate the recording by TV-Recorded TV-Add Recording-Channel & Time, make my choices and then hit Record. Both HDD’s are NTFS.

Since this has only happened once so far, just check all the recording settings and set another recording and monitor it if possible, see if it still breaks up the recording and if there’s any pattern to the segmenting.

Thank you F.U.N. Downtown. I think it is a one off but I do not like WMC and have ordered a DNTV Dual Hybrid (7164) PCIe which comes with its own recording software. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Ya I don’t care for it in manual mode at all either but we get several digital over the air broadcasts for which there is a programme guide that I can simply right click the show of choice and have it recorded, one only, or the whole series. For that specific function it is terrific. Still stupid to have wtv format though, always have to convert it so I’m not stuck watching it in WMC all the time.
