So i just read Woody’s java rant. How do i know if java is on my computer? I just did a clean reinstall – Win7 HP.
If it is, will it be in Programs and Features? Is it ever ‘hidden’? Could it be installed with another program and not let me know? Could it be installed with a hardware install – say, video card/driver/update?
Up till now i’ve assumed if its not in Programs and Features then i don’t have it. But i got a strange message when i visited a site – i don’t remember which. It could also have been because i haven’t installed java yet.
Thank you for your time and input.
    kurt!

In my experience, whenever Java has been installed it always shows in Programs and Features.

You may have came across a Javascript error but that does not require Java to be installed.

More details on the strange message you received would be helpful!

        Thanks Browni.
I use FF w/ NoScript. I wish i was paying more attention to the message. Im sure it’ll happen again since im not in a hurry to get java.
Im thinking you’re right about the JS error. Anyway, thanks again.

Java will be in Control Panel if it’s installed.
