    Hi –
I have a keyboard shortcut to the navigation pane, but since I have to place curson in its text field, it’s not much of a shortcut. So, is there a keyboard shortcut to place cursor in the text field–Or is there a macro out there that would combine the 2?

    Thank you.

You refer to Word 7 – do you mean Word 2007?
The Navigation Pane was introduced in Word 2010 and when opened (Ctrl + F), the cursor should automatically appear in the Search Bar.
If a user clicks in an open document when the Navigation Pane is open, the cursor will disappear from the Search Bar and show in the document.
To place the cursor back in the Nav Pane Search Bar, via the keyboard, press the F6 key.

Apologies if I have not interpreted your issue correctly.

Thank you so much for your reply. I never know about F6 and Nav. Pane.

Sorry about the Word confusion. It’s actually Word 2013. I’m new to that and WIndows 7 and I confess to confusing them….

As I mentioned, I have a shortcut to the Nav. Pane and found it cumbersome to then have to use the mouse to place cursor in its Search Bar. Will use F6 now, thanks to you.

        Certainly appreciate your reply.
