Polish radio station replaces journalists with AI ‘presenters’
A Polish radio station has triggered controversy after dismissing its journalists and relaunching this week with AI-generated “presenters.”
* The first in a coming wave of AI replacing journalists.

AskWoody PlusOctober 28, 2024 at 3:06 pm #2713132This is exactly the negative feedback loop of AI that I have been so concerned might be inevitable. Yet all the tech-bros, tech-optimists and naive, starry-eyed evangelists of AI refused to see the forest for the trees – mostly because of the profits to be made, it seems.
I’m saddened that it is happening so quickly. If this ‘alignment problem’ isn’t addressed effectively and soon, it may severely corrode human intelligence, critical thinking, civil society, education and, possibly, the potential of humanity.

GuestOctober 28, 2024 at 4:20 pm #2713158I’ve said it from the beginning and I’ll continue to say it: Artificial Intelligence does not compare to Real Intelligence.
Relying on AI causes people to BD [Be Dumb]
Seems obvious to many people, but others can’t seem to grasp the concept.
I’ve always wondered if there is a correlation between conservative/liberal views for this topic.

AskWoody PlusOctober 28, 2024 at 8:28 pm #2713189This is why I hate AI. I do believe AI is actually Artificial Stupidity. It is make people more and more stupid. “I need to write a paper on this, but I’ll let AI do it for me.” There is more and more of these being advertised and all it does is make people complete idiots because they don’t have to think for themselves or have to do any research. I disable all “chatbots” an AI items in my browser and “office” style products.
I would love to see this current generation trying to do today with the tools we had in the 80’s and 90’s.
