WuMgr – How to download and install a failed update

I’ve been using WuMgr on my Win 10 Pro laptop (v21H2) with great success until this morning. I was downloading the January updates, and the 2022-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5009543) failed to download properly and install. It did show as downloaded, but when I restarted, it was listed as failed, and now there is no way to try to download it again.

Is there a work around for this in WuMgr? That KB, along with KB5008876 and KB890830 which did download and install, are all still listed on my WU page. Should I try to go ahead and download from there, or will WuMgr reset itself and allow me to get that one later on?

As a side note – none of those are showing in WuSHowHide either.

WuMgr has always been so easy – so I was not prepared for this failure.

Thanks for the help. I’d like to get this resolved so that I can move on from the January updates! 🙂

ETA – I did just go ahead and try to get this failed one through WU – and it immediately said that the laptop was up to date. I checked in the history, and all of this month’s were successfully installed. Don’t know why WuMgr said that one had failed, but all seems well now.

good. I have sometimes corrected “problems” with wumgr simply by rebooting and checking again. all in all, I love it.

 

EDIT one caveat, I have learned not to update WD stuff at the same time as, say, cumulatives.

Yes, I have found WuMgr to be much less stressful to use than WU. I like that I can do one update at a time, too.
