Xerox MFD not printing multiple copies

We have several Xerox Multi Function Devices (Xerox Document Centre 440/Xerox Document Centre 506 /Xerox Document Centre 706) on our Netware 5.1 network and a combination of Win NT and Win XP on the workstations.

We have found that the MFD’s will not allow multiple copies to be printed at once, even though in Word (or any other app) multiple copies have been requested. For example if we ask for 15 copies of a document, we only get one copy printed out. This is a bit of a problem when printing 200 copies of something – having to print 1 copy at a time 200 times….

This is happening on both NT & XP.

Any suggestions or solutions will be very muchly appreciated.

Sounds like a driver problem. Check with your reseller or Xerox support.

While it’s way more efficient for the Xerox device to make the 200 copies, you can have Word send the job 200 times by checking the Collate checkbox in the Print dialog.

I have tried the “update driver” path and have had no luck – am still only getting one copy when I have asked for 5.

The collate option is ticked.

Per this thread, I am having the same problem, but with different printer. Drivers no help and collate checked/unchecked no help.

Have you gotten anywhere with this yet?

No luck yet. I have been talking to someone at Xerox who isn’t able to shed any light on it either, so they are sending someone out to have a look at it for us.

I have found that if I ask for 3 copies of a 1 page document, I actually get 3 copies. But if I add an extra page to the same document and then try to print 3 copies, I only get one copy. Is that happening to you too?

I will let you know what (if anything) the Xerox technician comes up wtith.

No, if I ask for 1 copy, get 1 copy. If I ask for 2 copies, I get 1 copy. If I ask for 3….you get the idea.

Yeah we are on a network, we are running NetWare 5.1, with the printer in question set up as an NDPS printer.

If I have a 1 page doc and ask for any number of copies it works fine, but if I have a 2 (or more) page doc, and ask for more than one copy I still only get one copy.

I think we may have discovered the problem…

If we ask for a banner page (Novell NetWare banner) to be printed at the start, we only get one copy, but if we turn the banner page off, we get as many copies as we asked for.

Not sure if this will help or not in your case.
