Microsoft is a little slow on the up take, my KB 4462923 is still showing October 9, 2018. Go figure! It went back to being hidden.

Not really true. Actually I DID make the switch because 10 drove me nuts. And to be very honest, macOS in practice is a more open system than Windows nowadays. Not that strange of course, because it’s based on Unix. Basically all open source software available for Linux (and Windows) is also available for macOS. Advantage of macOS over Linus is the availability of software like Office 365, Photoshop etc. Yes, the computers are moe expensive. But if you really dig into the hardware, not that much actually. If you buy for example an iMac, you get not only a complete computer but also a 4K HDR screen included. If you would buy a similar system for Windows, it would cost you more or less the same. Laptops the same. You can buy a low end macBook which is rather comparable with a midrange to bottom-high end Windows laptop. Besides, look at the ridiculous prices of Microsoft’s own Surface hardware. Hardware that in fact keeps having problems and – well – still runs a c***y os. Finally, keep in mind that  those Surfaces are abandoned in matter of os-support after 3…4 years, Macs not.

have been installed on 3 win7sp1x64 test machines w/o any issues, glitches & surprises.

This pair seems to be at least better then their Sep-Oct predecessors – on laptops a couple of degrees lower temp of both CPU & GPU, and less fans spinning.

I guess this Oct is a one of the months when preview is better than rollup.

P.S. Maybe it’s worth to mention that this Preview has been installed right over Dec2017 rollup. I mean that I’m always removing the last installed massive patch either it’s rollup or preview and auto-returning to Dec2017Rollup before install next massive patch when arrived. From my point it’s a suitable and the less troubled way. 🙂

Well, I believe KB3177467-v1 has been installed a long ago, maybe right upon its initial release in 2016(?)… 🙂

As for KB3177467-v2 so it hasn’t been offered via W7UC at all in my case, and then was downloaded from m$ catalog & installed manually right prior to install of October 9, 2018—KB4462923 (Monthly Rollup).

P.S. As far as I remember KB3177467-v2 has been straightly installed over KB3177467-v1 w/o its removal first.

Oh Brother where are we bound with MS ?

Patches, what patches, i think i will have to pull the band aids out.

There seems to be no transparency with MS which leads to all sort of confusion amongst the many flavours of Windows and patching.

Patches for Win 10 plus the previews, …. yes for those who use Win 10.

As for Win 7 some say they have been yanked and some say they have not.

Could not see any related to the Oct 2018 Security Monthly Quality Roll-up related to Win 7 being listed anywhere.

( I have even looked in the MS Update Catalog with only the preview of the Oct 2018 Monthly Quality being listed ).

Well, i saw and watched my Oct 2018 Security Monthly Quality or was it just the Quality Roll-ups for Win 7 disappear from my important listing.

All i was left with in the important listing were the Malicious Software removal tool and the latest Service Stack ( KB 3177467  Ver 2 ) which i have now installed.

As it stood without the latest Service Stack Update ( KB3177467 Ver2 ) installed all my recommended updates NO longer showed but now i have them back after installation of the latest Service Stack Ver 2.

The only one i see is related to the Preview of the Win 7 Oct 2018 Monthly Quality Roll-up is listed in my recommended and of course the NET Framework and many others that i did not need.

This is getting more maddening and crazier by the day on this side of the hemisphere ( AU ).

Thoroughly confused and probably confuse those who read this.

Old Hotfix Rollup model was far better for .NET
and WU would recognize the hotfix and not offer other updates, even security ones
