My ISP upgraded me to 50M donwload speed which I get on my Macbookpro, but with Zone Alarm firewall on I can get only 30M down. I get 50M if I turn it off. Any ideas?

Some firewalls do buffering, which screws up some speed testers. Can you try downloading a known large file and timing it?

Running Speedtest.net. Sposd to be one of the best. Found this: Start, Run:gpedit.msc
        Admin Templates/Network/QOS packet Scheduler
clk on Limit reservable bandwidth, enable, then change the % to 0%
I found an old 10/100 eth card and this helped speed it up, plugged in my 10/100/1000 card and now it’s running at 52M download speed. ?????????

Ha-ha! With KIS 2012 and Speedtest.net the fastest speed it has shown for my 10 Mbps cable line is 38 Mbps!

Most likely this was a NIC or driver issue. The bandwidth reservation is only used if a specific program requests it. If there is no request then there is no reservation.

Have you tried any other firewalls? I use Online Armor++with great success, and there is a free version. I like the UI much better than the Windows or ZA firewalls.

Try the speed tests with the ZA Firewall set to its lowest setting, or Exit the firewall program altogether. Then report if there is still a slowdown or upper limit. I would have to agree that this looks like a computer or router hardware/driver issue, not a firewall issue.
