    Hi –

Is there a way to add a number to the Zoom dropdown menu on the Standard Toolbar, i.e., 125%?
I have created such a macro button but, to save real estate, I was trying to figure out if adding it to the list was a possibility. (And I’m almost running out of shortcut combinations….)Thank you.

As far as I know, you can’t edit the built-in dropdown list, but you can type any percentage (between the minimum and maximum) in the box, then press Enter; this is hardly more work than clicking the dropdown arrow, then selecting the percentage. If you would really like to add custom percentages, create your own dropdown and remove the built-in version from the toolbar.

        Hans –

Many thanks for your QUICK response. – I know you can enter a percentage in the box and press Enter. Was just looking for a lazier way.

        Have a good weekend.

And I’m almost running out of shortcut combinations

[/indent]Here’s a way to increase the number of shortcut combinations you can use. You can assign key combinations to Alt without losing the ability to use the Alt key to select a menu. e.g. Suppose you assign Alt+F to InsertFormField. You can still use the keyboard to select the File menu. If you hold the Alt key down & press F, you get the Insert FormField dialog box. If you type them sucessively, you open the File menu.

Another way to increase the effective number of keyboard shortcuts is to memorize the combinations that will activate the command from the menu. e.g. Suppose you frequently change short paragraphs to Title Case. Just memorize that combination Alt,o,e,t,; i.e. just type the 5 keys successively. The “o” opens the Format menu, the “e” is then the hotkey to open the change case dialog box, the “t” selects the Titile Case, & applies it.

Another thing you can do is assign frequently used macros to a dropdown toolbar or menu & give each of them a single hotkey assignment. This same technique works with styles & other commands that aren’t found on menus. e.g. I have a menu named Macros. On it is a macro that cleans up pasted email called EmailClean. When I want to invoke it, I simply type: Alt,me.

If you’re a real keyboard enthusiast, give these techniques a try.
