Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 … and yes I bought 10 at $30 each back “in the day” … and then again as recently as 2016 … but I have almost run out … and the new keyboard prices are insane!

Ha … I can’t seem to get this right … I am still talking about my problems with OneNote … but I’ve pushed this off tangent long enough.

Admin … feel free to delete my posts to avoid further distraction.

So apparently I can’t edit the post after 15-minutes … Repost correct version.

Thanks for the article. Very informative.

But wow! Having to write (and put into practice) this much detail for what I thought was supposed to be a (from Microsoft) “… fast and simple editor has been a staple of Windows for years. Use it to view, edit, and search through plain text documents instantly.”

The reason reason I am still uncomfortable with OneNote (even though I use it), is that I can never seem to convince myself it will have the data I need when I need it. There always seems to be a problem locating files.

I’ll keep trying, but your article and my experience don’t seem to bode well for my use case.

Oops … I meant OneNote … I don’t have any problems with Notepad!

I don’t see how I can edit the post?

One if my Windows 10 Home computers seems to be trapped in a startup loop after the updates. Trying to uninstall didn’t work, and backing up to an old system restore point didn’t work. No time to debug at this time.

Thanks for the article … and I hope that I can resolve my issues. But for Figure #1 and Figure #4 … I don;t understand. I am admittedly jaded having tested this software so many times only to revert to manual syncing or a third party program.

For Figure 1, I see no icons in the status column … ideas? I have files … I have folders … no status. Solved … OK obvious I guess … OneDrive needs to be signed in … for some reason it says it was signing in … but it’s wasn’t connecting. Signed out and signed back in … I have status.

I can’t find a way to see Figure 4 … where is it  buried? OK Solved … You did state “If you right-click the OneDrive label in the File Explorer tree, you’ll also see Settings …” That was the solution … I would have liked a reference to Figure 4 earlier … with this comment …

As a suggestion, you might consider always starting with a short note indicating how to get to where you are pointing. So many times posters/writers (many with the best intentions, but presumably in a hurry) think that the user knows where all the links are … and that is just not the case. In fact I am specifically reading this article so I don’t have to search for the links. Additionally, for this articles suggestions to work, I guess that you would need to set up OneDrive first (and yes I have done that many years ago) … but I guess some users won’t even get to Figure 1. Perhaps point to an article setting up OneDrive?

    • in reply to: Image resizing using the Ribbon doesn’t always work #1445248

Oh … and demonstrating this fix to a friend … I realized why the bug is “intermittent.” Depending on where the page is positioned when the scroll to a picture is completed (header visible or not), controls whether the picture will resize or not.

      Wow! I’m almost a happy camper … … I posted the bug in 2009 …

Oh my gosh (please assume that I am using significantly stronger expletives that I can’t print here!) … 😡

With a small sample check … the “page break” “fix” does seem to work. If the resize of a picture doesn’t work … scroll the page so no header is visible above the picture (e.g., the picture is at the top of the screen) … and like magic, the picture now resizes correctly. Scroll some of the picture off-screen if the picture is very close to the header.

Let’s hope that this fix sticks.

Thanks evew for a fix that nobody else could find! 🙂

OK … thanks for trying … I guess this is why the problem isn’t getting fixed … it is highly random …

Well if anyone gets a solution … or any more information that might help us debug the problem … please post it …

    • in reply to: Image resizing using the Ribbon doesn’t always work #1355095

Eric … OK … but … are you saying that resizing works using the instructions provided in the document … or the right click dialog?

Actually, assuming that you are editing more than one picture … and hence the Picture Tools ribbon is displayed … it is less keystrokes to use the ribbon (zero to be exact vs 2 (right click & select Size and Position & then you have to travel some distance to the dialog :-)) … although the ribbon is probably a longer distance to travel.

That’s why I would like the ribbon to work consistently.

Yeah .. I downloaded the file to test it again … and it still does malfunction for me …

    • in reply to: Image resizing using the Ribbon doesn’t always work #1354829

Well … I was hoping someone would detect the problem 🙁 … But I guess this just shows how intermittent/random it is … I suppose I cuold use the macro option … but the problem can be worked around more easily by right clicking the picture and using the size dialog. It’s just a couple of extra clicks … but I hate extra clicks 🙂 Thanks for giving it a try.

There are two instructions in the file next to two graphics. Please follow the instructions as closely as possible (assuming that I wrote them correctly). If you “fix” the feature accidentally … and want to continue testing … reopen the orignal file. I will be interested to see if anyone else can duplicate the issue …

      Thanks in adavnce …
