AskWoody LoungerApril 10, 2018 at 9:11 am in reply to: 2000011: Group A, Group B and Group W – what's the difference? #183321Thank you Elly, explaining it fully will help some people figure out what they need to do.
I myself have to update 50 Windows 7 machines every month because I am in group “B”.
I quit installing updates all together last Dec. but found I needed to continue to stay up to date. I haven’t run across problemsย from before like printers going “poof”.
I did run across a problem this week while working on a Ideapad Win10 piece of… I’ll stop there.
I did the updates for the person and when I got to the last one, it would not move to version 1709, now their moving to another version. Geeesh. Anyway when I did the final one I could do, the USB ports all stopped working, I got a blue screen until I took out the USB stick and it restarted properly. The USB stick was demolished, all my programs and group B monthly updates from Oct. 2016. I am only upset at myself because I swore I would never work on a Win10 machine after the last fiasco.
I would also like to thank all of you that work so hard at keeping us informed of what the big M (i don’t mean McDonals’s) is trying to pull ovr on us.

AskWoody LoungerI myself have also stopped all updating as of Dec. 2017. (Also using Opera now).
The confusion, deception, damage and no thoughts of saying were sorry, bah, Iย have to work on multiple machines daily, I’ve given up, I just tell the customers to come to this site, read for yourself, install if you want.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 27, 2017 at 9:29 am in reply to: MS-DEFCON 3: Some lingering problems, but it’s time to get Windows and Office patched #126625Following instructions I hope I understood, I installed June updates and also for ie11.
I have 10 laptops and computers on the go in Group B so I’m being extra careful.
No BSOD on any over yesterday and so far today.
I will install July after the storm is over and nobody (LOL) is having problems.
Someone mentioned awhile back how hard it is to follow Group B, it’s a waiting and reading game. Sit back, keep cool and don’t be in a hurry to install anything until the Defcon is raised to 3. Been working for me since last Oct.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 26, 2017 at 3:36 pm in reply to: MS-DEFCON 3: Some lingering problems, but it’s time to get Windows and Office patched #126541I’m still waiting for the Defcon 3 to show up for June, as stated before you must install them individually not like ie11 which are cumulative?
My question is the Defcon 3 that is out now meaning okay to do Junes first?
I should add these numbers… KB4022722 & 4021558.

AskWoody LoungerHey PK, I used Ebay as an example only, I was going to any website and getting the same thing.
What I did di was oopen task manager and found two Internet Explorer running. This happened last Oct. when I started using the B group instead of checking things out myself. Like I mentioned I just got home and have not fired up the other computers to see if they are doing the same thing. By the way, I tried to get to AskWoody when I got home and it said the site was not safe, would that have been when you were down? Thanks for all you do….
