Uninstall Office and then reinstall it. But do NOT install SR-2, just SR-1a.

This is a function of the ‘Search’program at the web page. A lot of them will NOT allow one to scroll back or forward, using either the mouse or the IE or Netscape back and forward buttons on the tool bars.

Are you using Word as your email editor?
If so this may be what is doing this.

Go to http://www.pcnineoneone.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi%5B/url%5D and ask your question there. There are a lot of people that dual boot over at PC911. I am dual booting but I want to keep both. I think you will be running into all kinds of problems. All of my software is NOT compatable. Are you sure that ALL of yours is?

Tells us what programs you are having problems with.

MOST programs you can go in and set the option to use My Documents or they will remember what the last folder used was.

    • in reply to: Disappearing file locations Word 97 #508726

      Question:
How does network disruption affect Word’s file locations if they’re all pointing to local paths?

I have only seen this happen when the network is used for file storage and/or for a ‘networked’ copy of MS Office is running.

As stated your files are saved on the local drive, is MS Office (Word) also on the local drive or are you using a ‘networked copy’?

How much memory do these machines have?

What is is running (other appl’s) when this happens?

In the same pane do you have ‘Close original meassage on reply or forward’ checked ?
If NOT then check it and let us know what happens.

Not on mine either, and I have been running OutLook since Office97 and Norton’s AV since the DOS days. I have never had any of the fax software appear.

Cpemma, you are correct, but you must tell Windows setup where to look by selecting the cd drive.

I don’t know, on my wife’s new Win Me machine, when we did the new machine setup it remembered that it is on a network and has NOT asked for a password since. But my Win 98FE and Win2K (dual boot) machine I have to run TweakUI.
      Go figure

I have been using Outlook since the 97 version in the Internet mode and never had this happen. Now that we have cable access Outlook 2000 is running almost all the time. In fact my wifes machine is running OL2K in the background and she has NOT had this problem.

    • in reply to: Network Password #508658

Use TweakUI and have Windows “Remember Password”.
If you do NOT have TweakUi you can download it here http://www.microsoft.com/NTWorkstation/dow…g/NTTweakUI.asp%5B/url%5D

Yes, this link is to the NT area, this version is good for Win 98FE, SE, Me, and 2K.
