    • Still peculiar nobody ever mentions this outstanding product

    • and provides protection thatโ€™s equal to, or better than, the best AV suites available.

That has never happened. Defender never was equal or better than the best A/Vs on A/Vs tests, and surly not better than Kaspersky.

So, Kaspersky is the only thing you have to worry about, perhaps?
Peculiar that “Bitdefender” isn’t mentioned; it comes in various ‘tastes’ and sure is at the top of the protection suites, and even has a free version that is good as just an anti-virus protection.
(by default it takes over MsDefender)
ps: B has a free antivirus app for the smartphone

I switched to the payed version of Macrium Reflect some time ago, and never regretted it. It is a good imager, and did save my pc’s some more crucial times when Windows11pro “forgot” to keep working

When there is no Internet I switch on my iPad with cellular (currently M2 iPad Pro 11″).

      * I don’t use any streaming service. All streaming is local.

Same here, using smartphone too, with G5 cellular connection, that’s fast

Yes. Quite right. Had to choose one or the other…. Testing to know and be sure in case of calamity takes just a kot of time.
      Time to relax right now

From experience, R-Drive Image and Acronis Cyber Protect are all-but-useless junk. Acronis True Image (specific to your OS) might be worthwhile. If you ask Acronis they might be willing to sell you a ‘perpetual’ license.

That’s quite right. Macrium Reflect is just ALL good with their boot(rescue)enviroment installed, and/plus in combination with Bitlocker-DiskEncryption active.
Lately I came in a boot-loop (W11pro) where from poweron the laptop directly came in the logon procedure of W11 (thankyou Redmond).
So the seperate bootmedium (usb-drive) gave me all the recoveroptions with the Bitlockerencrypted drives.
Thankfully it took about 12 minutes, instead of a very complicated restore job .
This licence was good the money the worth.

The same counts for installing Microsofts Updates, but failing to do this than you can be hacked by whom?
All legit companies, datacowboys, and villains.
So disable your internet, for sure the safest

    • in reply to: Transitioning from a Windows 10 to Windows 11 computer #2700657

Maybe old fashioned, but starting off with a new W11 machine is the much easiest way to reinstall the various user software (how much work can that be?), and than copy the userdata.
At the end of the transitioning you might find out thet W11 is Not quite the same as W10.
And than it’s good to know that the OS W11 is not changed.
