I thought that was clear, but here are the actual KBs:

January Preview (week D) update fixed the issue – KB5050092

Normal February monthly CU also included the fix – KB5051987

February Hotpatch monthly CU does not appear to include the fix – KB5052105

March Hotpatch monthly CU does not appear to include the fix – KB5053636

So how do I move from 2008 to 2009 within the same channel? Just apply the 2009 update? Or does the 2009 update only work if I’m already on 2009?

Yes – that’s part of my point. 1809 does it, but 1803 had exactly the same task running WITHOUT producing all the empty folders in the Temp dir. So why? What have they mucked up? What is the task trying to achieve?

If you’re talking Enterprise edition, then personally I’d go with 1809 as the lifecycle is longer than for 1903.
