My Win7 ThinkPad has been updated without me doing anything. It seems the update does not require any user interaction.

There is no option to disable autoupdates.

If you wish to disable autoupdates, you can do so via the Task Manager and Task Scheduler.

Open Task Manager, click on Services, and disable the following:

      Microsoft Edge Update Service (edgeupdate)

      Microsoft Edge Update Service (edgeupdatem)

      Microsoft Edge Elevation Service

In Task Scheduler disable the following:

      MicrosoftEdgeUpdateTaskMachineUA

      MicrosoftEdgeUpdateTaskMachineCore

      I’m confused:

Group B Security-only Updates and the IE11 Cumulative Update have been updated for November on AKB2000003.

UPDATE NOTE: According to @abbodi86, the November SOs are telemetry free.

      But:

I noticed that “Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser” scheduler was re-enabled after this update

So does that mean it’s safe to install this month’s SO (from the avoiding telemetry point-of-view)?

      Hello all,

Is there any sign of the Compatabilty Appraiser in this month’s Security Only update for Windows 7? There seems to have been a pattern since July with each alternate month including it…

    • Firstly @lightbulb, Welcome 🙂

I’ve installed the July security updates

Secondly, did you install the security-only update (Group-B style) KB4025337? or did you install the Security Monthly Quality Rollup (Group-A style)?

I installed the security-only update (Group-B style) KB4025337, as well as the IE update for July (Group-B style). When Woody gives the green light to install the August Group B-style updates, I suspect I’m going to be unable to do so…_

    • Hello all,

This is my first post, so please be kind!

I’ve installed the July security updates for the second time: the first time early this month, and the second yesterday. Both times the Windows Update cannot search for updates. Deleting the July update resolves the problem. I’m running Windows 7 starter 32 bit.
