AskWoody LoungerMay 4, 2024 at 5:47 pm in reply to: WIN 10 22 H2 Desktop, no folders/files, no icons on taskbar, no startup apps #2667508I’d like to know how to back up the profile.
Any third-party drive imaging program that has a folders and files backup option will work…
Macrium does.
I personally use Hasleo Backup Suite specifically for that purpose.
Note: To restore a profile using an imaging program, you will need to boot with the vendor’s rescue disk. Be sure to make one beforehand.

It sounds like your User Profile is corrupt.
Try downloading and running the free portable app Account Profile Fixer from Carifred.

AskWoody LoungerRight-click on Start and select Search.
Enter “event” (no quotes).
Click on Event Viewer (the search result).
Right-click on Windows Logs, and select Create Custom View.
Check the boxes for Critical, Warning, and Error.
The By log radio button will be selected. Next to that will be the Event logs dropdown.
Click on the down arrow and check Windows Logs.
Press Enter.
Click on OK.
On the next screen Save Filter to Custom View. Click OK.
The default name is New View.
The view will be added to the list of Custom Views.
Click on New View, and search for entries related to MS Office.
When you’re finished, you can delete New View, or save it for future use.

AskWoody LoungerMay 3, 2024 at 1:26 am in reply to: Microsoft won’t fix Windows 0x80070643 errors, manual fix required #2666918Saw that post…it was about KB5034441 for Windows 10 21H2 and 22H2 only.
The issue impacts Windows 10 21H2/22H2 (KB5034441), Windows 11 21H2 (KB5034440), and Windows Server 2022 (KB5034439).

AskWoody LoungerMy apologies.
Seemed like snark, rather than a legitimate question.
Hard to tell sometimes with some users…obvious for a few here.

AskWoody Loungerit’s likely the only correct retail Win license key is the one on the sticker of original Win DVD or the one you typed in.
Microsoft describes the path to resolving the error you’ll get when installing Windows after a hardware change…
Get help with Windows activation errors
See the first error described in the section “Fix Common Errors”.
I’m surprised that wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey didn’t work…
It returned my original OEM Windows 8.1 key (validated in ShowKeyPlus), which was upgraded to Windows 10.
You’re probably looking at a call to Microsoft.

AskWoody LoungerMay 2, 2024 at 4:07 pm in reply to: Microsoft Word will soon begin marking two spaces between sentences as an error. #2666791This thread seems to be a jumble of posts from 2021 and 2024. Why?
There have been a few “zombie” threads recently…
Some sites will lock threads that have been inactive for a certain amount of time (usually a year or more).
