    • Thanks for responding,Bob99. I am happy to report when I checked this AM,I was greeted with the normal MSE display. Have no clue what caused the problem for two consecutive  nights!

    • Thanks,Bob99. That is exactly what I am doing. I am up to 1.3 million items as I write this. Getting near bedtime,so I will just let it run and go to bed. Hopefully,it will complete and show the total scan count. Even if the total number of items scanned doesn’t show,at least it acknowledges a scan was run on the correct date. I almost never see any detections,as I always run my browser and email client sandboxed. I use Sandboxie-plus,which I support on Patreon with a few bucks every month. They have a free version as well,I recall.

Reply to all who have kindly offered advice on my Tbird sending issue:  It was and is the ISP’s fault ! I called them recently, and the agent I talked with told me I wasn’t the first person to complain about this issue, and actually gave me an incident # they are working on! I guess there is no practical way of lighting a fire under the backsides of the ISP to expedite the issue? Earlier this year,I suddenly could send emails with my Tbird, but a few months later, the problem arose again!

Well, good news, kinda… The cable guy gave me a new PVR,and it successfully recorded three episodes of ST:Voyager this past Thursday. The real test will be if it repeats that performance this Thursday. Right now,it looks like the PVR was the problem.

Well, the cable guy was here, and didn’t give me an argument, mainly because the cable company was out of ideas,I guess. Anyway, I got a new PVR box without asking. I will let you know if it fixed the problem.

I am going to ask the cable tech for another PVR when he visits tomorrow, and hope that the “new” one does not have a possible HDD problem as well. It shouldn’t be a problem,as the cable company has tried about everything else, and I am sure they want me off their backs.

      Interesting,thanks,oldguy!

You should ask the cable guy if there’s a way for you to check the HDD’s status and reformat it if necessary.

I was offered another DVR on one past visit-I think I declined because I had several shows I hadn’t watched yet. When the cable guy comes up again,I will ask for another PVR. In my experience, they run various tests on the equipment while here, although I forget exactly what they do. Not sure if they reformat.

Thanks, alejr, that is a new one to me. However,I successfully recorded 3 back to back episodes about 2 weeks ago,so flagging certain shows as do not record doesn’t always work. I will discuss this with the cable guy when he visits next week. You would think they would like to see an answer as much as I would, because this is their third visit to my home, and I am likely becoming a PITA for them. Your comment reminds me that I haven’t been able to record another favorite,Better Call Saul. In the case of that show,I get the opening scene recorded, about 2 seconds worth, and then the video freezes. I forget what channel it was on.

Thanks,JohnW: I think if the program guide was not up to date,I would still record something in the time slot for my show. All I got was a black screen that didn’t do anything when play was pressed. I remember walking by the machine, and the darned PVR had a red record button on last Thursday,so I assumed all was good.

Thanks,Charlie.Funny you should mention that. I did ask one of the techs if the PVRs were new,and he said no. Can’t recall if he said if they were refurbished or not. I will ask them for a new PVR when they come up on the 30th.

Hello, guys,Happy New Year! Well,I checked Windows Firewall, and found that TB was not among the allowed programs,so I added it,but that didn’t help. Only thing I could think of was do you have to reboot after allowing a new program through the firewall? I don’t understand why adding TB to allowed programs would help,as the firewall allowed incoming TB emails even before I added TB to the allowed programs list.

I have an Arris SBG 6782 . Haven’t done anything lately as far as diagnostics. Not a geek. That is why I am on AskWoody..

Hi Carl. FWIW,my Tbird updated itself  to version 91.3.0 (32-bit),but sadly,no change in my ability to send. I am now using Shaw Webmail, but I prefer Tbird. Oh well.

Windows AV would satisfy me,as I run my browser and email client sandboxed at all times, which gives me two levels of protection. I haven’t had malware issues in decades. Heard that there is new malware that can see it is running in a sandboxed environment, and escape somehow. Oh well…
