AskWoody MVPDid BATcher suggest Treesize Free? It’s the one I use on the servers at work – I actually prefer Treesize Pro, but we are having a recession you know!

AskWoody MVPI think the error messages are part of your problem. Something in XP is not happy and it may be hardware or software.
Can you use other USB devices?
Do you have other strange behaviour on that PC?cheers, Paul

AskWoody MVPI think the reboot problem needs to be sorted, but you need a good backup first. (Do you have a backup?)
|I would start by re-seating all your components and connectors – take the plugs off and put them back on again, take the memory out and put it back in again.Leave the RAID pair for the OS, no downside there.
Moving all data to a new drive is a good idea. You can re-build the OS without having to worry about losing data.
To move My Documents you right click on My Documents, select Properties, change the location and click Move.
Use Mozbackup to backup the Mozilla settings. No need to move the profile.
Treesize free is a great space use viewer.

AskWoody MVPThere are plenty of rouges on the internet, China and Russia do not have a monopoly on rouges.
Set up your firewall to block everything incoming – this is standard firewall behaviour. Then the only IP addresses to “see” your PC are ones your PC connects to.

AskWoody MVPI am asked for my network password.
Have you tried the router password, or no password?
cheers, Paul

AskWoody MVPI would turn on the firewall and turn off all sharing. You do not want others peering at your machine.

AskWoody MVPMy money is on a malicious user or two, but it is hard to be sure.
The IP addresses shown in your logs, except 192.168, do not necessarily belong to an individual PC, more likely an ISP using NAT for their users. This shows the users are from the same ISP, but not much more.
Windows is probably not involved with the problem, except that it may be a crash caused by the game server overwriting some of Windows memory.
Can you change your account and lock the old one, or even change your password to a much more complex one?
cheers, Paul

AskWoody MVPWhat do you do if the user is midway through a document/spreadsheet? Do you junk the lot or force a save?
cheers, Paul

Paul T
AskWoody MVPThis is expected if you have only backed up the storage group and not specified individual users.
I recommend you do NOT backup individual users, it increases the overhead enormously for no particular gain. You need to restore the SG to the Recovery Storage Group then use the Export-Mailbox command – SP1 only. A better, albeit more costly, method would be to use Ontrack Power Controls.

AskWoody MVPI can’t see the any GPOs except Default Domain Policy being applied. (It would be easier to read if you used the text output and pasted the text.)
Is your user in the Test OU?
For the GPO to be applied to a user it needs to be linked the the OU or parent OU of the user. Same goes for a machine GPO.cheers, Paul

AskWoody MVPThat doesn’t sound simple to me. Have you checked SourceForge (open source software) for something that might fit the bill?
