Sounds like you don’t have RAID on that machine – the RAID controller is optional.

If you can boot from CD I would get a copy of BartPE – it has support for lots of disk controllers – and write, re-write and format the disks.

The power pack will be double insulated so it doesn’t matter how bad the wiring is, you will be OK. As it is OK in the UK I think the PP is OK.
Does the problem occur when the laptop is plugged into the LAN / Internet?
      Is it OK stand alone?

      cheers, Paul

Certainly is odd. Maybe something on network settings is set to point to an external address and when it’s not available the network is kaput?
You could try Wireshark or similar network sniffer to look at the packets from one of the dodgy machines to see what it’s doing when trying to share files?

You haven’t linked the GPO to an OU. See Erics note about creating a test OU above.

Can’t you set up a rule for the bounce messages that saves to a file, runs a program etc?
What email program do you use to receive the bounce messages?

      cheers, Paul

Any mains leakage can be lethal. You should not risk it, get a new power pack.

The uninstall program should be in the directory with the other files. Look for spuninst.exe.

The RAID config is available at boot – there will be a message on the screen telling you to press Alt R, or something, to enter the RAID set up.

Look in the %SystemRoot% (usually C:Windows) for $NTUninstall… directories. Look in the latest for a file ending with .inf, open it and look for details of your patch.
The directories are to allow uninstall of patches.

Excel password protection is not very strong and there are lots of utilities to find the password. Most seem to be commercial, which is fine if you really need the data unencumbered.

You could put the raw code for a field (the data shown when you press Alt F9) and merge the data? Not tested, just a thought.

Hard to know what is causing the problem, but a good test may be to use different ripping software. I use MediaMonkey (free version works nicely) and rip to FLAC format.

The disk manufacturers provide diagnostic software that will identify problems.
The other possibility is bad firmware – I had this with 3 Seagate/Maxtor 500GB drives. A firmware update fixed the problem.

If the server has a RAID controller you can break the array and re-configure it as a different type. This will reformat the drives. Do this a couple of times to make sure the disks have been re-written, then break the array and leave the disks as independent disks.

If you have a USB connected CD you may be able to plug it in and boot from that.

A search for “boot cd” will return a number of images that have HD erase tools.

      cheers, Paul
